Plein Air and Interior Landscape Drawing Workshop
Enjoy a relaxing weekend of landscape drawing with us at Waihora Homestead in the
southern Wairarapa
We are running our Plein Air and Interior Landscape Drawing Workshop, a fully catered
art weekend away with creative, supportive people in a beautiful historic homestead and
garden location.
The workshop is two full days of learning and exploring drawing techniques; freehand
perspective, proportion, composition, and the inclusion of figures in drawings.
Tuition and demonstrations will be held in the mornings. The afternoons will be free time
with support from the tutor to practice and enjoy landscape drawing. Plein air drawing is
done outside, direct from the real subject, not from photographs. The skills you will learn
could be used for personal exploration, artwork creation, or even a travel diary.
Your tutor: Denise Durkin
Denise is a practicing artist and art tutor at Inverlochy Art School in Wellington, where
she has contributed to the drawing community since 2001.
After gaining a Diploma in Visual Communication Design from Wellington Polytechnic
Design School specialising in Illustration (1987-89), Denise spent many years working in
the graphics industry, giving her a strong compositional aesthetic. With a love of
independent scholarship and two decades at Inverlochy, she has moved fully into fine
arts. She dedicates her time to building skills in drawing, painting and printmaking.
"For ten years I have built up my tutoring skills and classes in drawing at Inverlochy. This
has been amazing as I am still learning from every class I run, and I invest this growth
into new teaching ideas and my own artwork".
